DENILIQUIN Council is still keen to chase a solar power plant for the town, but not at the cost of other much needed developments.

It has said costs associated with the project might be better spent on other infrastructure, likely to have a more direct benefit for Deniliquin and district.

General manager Graeme Haley said detailed studies would need to be conducted, to build up some sort of feasibility report for the solar ...

Hot Shots hold out surging Titans CENTRAL Hot Shots looked like being overrun by a surging Titans outfit in local mixed netball at the Deni Sports Stadium last week. The Titans trailed by eight goals at half time but managed to cut the margin to just three at the end of the third quarter. The Titans had come to play with Dave Leetham sporting a new haircut for the occasion. Brooke Adamson applied plenty of physical net pressure to the Central midcourters, while Hayley Hood was accurate all game with her passes. The Central's big guns stemmed the flow of goals and were able to stretch the final margin to five goals. Rob Barnes did the job while Rohan Caniglia lost a kilo or two. Exchange Hotel was on fire against the Average Joes. Marc Braybon really turned it on during the second quarter with a quartet of lay-up style goals. It was noted that the Exchange lads had started preseason football training and applied plenty of body-onbody. Shae Fitzpatrick proved that the Christmas break was no problem and scored goals at will. The Joes may have been slow early but stepped up the pace in the second half. The game highlight was the work of Tegan and Mark Fisher in the goal arc. Tegan rebounded hard and let dad score all the easy goals. Mighty Ducks love a win and may have underestimated the No Hopes. The Ducks had to work exceptionally hard in the final quarter and managed to win by two goals. Nathan Holahan entertained the crowd with his no fear, hard at the ball approach. The odd intercept helped his best player aspirations. Mathilda Jacobs was inspirational after continuing despite a toe-nail injury. Jammi Scott enjoyed a move to GA and was seen covering the whole twothirds. Nat Henthorn played well despite the approaching 21st playing on her mind. She is improving with every year on the court. Katie Barling earns a mention for her effort at GS. The Magnums and the Chunkies finished the evening with a social game with both sides moving players around the court. Interesting moves from the Magnums saw Sandra Braham start in defence while Kyle Ives even had a go shooting goals. Highlights for the Chunkies included the scores being level two-all after 90 seconds. Troy Clent showed some NBA moves in the goal circle. Karla Strongman shot well for a girl who won a defending award during her under-13s year. Easy Beats looked in trouble prior to their game against Mitchibata, with a few players running late. Nat Free was deadly accurate shooting goals from all distances. Jeremy Murray was seen to intercept quite a few passes. Goals were hard to score for the Mitchis but we must give the team an A for effort. Johnny Mitchell picked up votes again for a four-quarter effort. Golden Rivers Boxing Club Team of the Week: GS Tegan Fisher, GA Mark Braybon, WA Hayley Hood, C Jayden Ives, WD Jeremy Murray, GD John Mitchell, GK Nat Henthorn. Scores: Easy Beats 42 def Mitchibata 4. Magnums 36 def. Chunky Chickens 17. Mighty Ducks 16 def. No Hopes 14. Exchange Hotel 47 def. Average Joes 13. Central Hot Shots 29 def. Titans 24.
